What's Cooking at Brooks Corner

Well let’s see what’s been cooking at Brooks corner. First off, a big shout out to the Victory Bluegrass band for playing this past Saturday. Tiffany said there was a great crowd and everyone really seemed to enjoy it. Even James Taylor’s granddaughter Kaylah Faith Chambers from Scott county sang and played with them. She has an amazing voice.

Tiffany said she wants to apologize to Ray Ellis and his friends for the misprint in the last article about the Victory Bluegrass Band playing in the evening instead of during the day. She hopes they enjoyed their time at Sunbright Community Center where they play bluegrass and serve supper (for only $5) we believe the last Saturday of the month but be sure to check it out on facebook for more info. Hopefully Mr. Ellis and his family will come back out sometime for a good ole hamburger or fried bolonga sandwhich. Tiffany said she hoped the Hoop chesse held them over til they got to Sunbright.

Onto other news, Ms. Linda reports that the Dusty Boot Concert was a HUGE success and the Morgan County Tourism Alliance so appreciated everyone who donated, helped, or just showed up to enjoy the evening. We live in a great county why not celebrate it and do something in our own community.

Fall is here and the leaves are already changing and beginning to look beautiful. Take advantage of a great hike or a simple stroll in some of the beautiful natural areas around. Frozen Head State Park is located in Wartburg Tn. and they have some wonderful places to visit. Also, Pickett State Park is outside of Jamestown Tn. with some wonderful trails to hike also.

The upcoming Michaelmas Tea at Christ Church Episcopal is this Saturday Oct. 5th: seatings at 12pm and 2pm eastern time. It is not too late to make reservations. This is such a wonderful way to support the church and it is such a good time. The ladies of the church go above and beyond. Contact Dorcus Mcbrayer @ 423.628.1282 for more information.

Historic Rugby is full steam head in this next season of Fall. Be sure to call Sue or Jordon and book a tour of the Historic village and ask them about the events going on for Fall. We believe there is something just about every weekend in October. 423.628.2441

Jim Goad and his guys will be playing gospel bluegrass Oct. 12th at Brooks Store from 2 to 4 eastern time. So, come on out and support them grab a bite to eat, and sit back and relax. We have had very little rain here over the last month so be sure to be careful with burning any brush or fires. Check with your local fire departments before burning.

Well we sure hope everyone is enjoying this fall weather. Take time to just sit on your porch and relax in this cooler weather. Until next time remember to cherish and spend time with the people who are still here with you and hold in your heart the memories of the ones who are not.
